The RegenOMedix™ Red + NIR Hair Cap brings targeted photobiomodulation directly to the scalp through a wearable, cordless system combining 660 nm red light and 850 nm near-infrared light.

Rather than relying on a single wavelength or widely spaced points of light, the cap uses 136 triple-chip LED modules containing 408 individual light-emitting diodes, creating broad light coverage across the scalp. The manufacturer specifies an irradiance of up to 45 mW/cm², giving the system meaningful light output within a simple 20-minute treatment ritual.

Two Wavelengths. Two Levels of Support.

660 nm Red Light
Visible red light is commonly used in photobiomodulation because of its interaction with superficial scalp tissue. It may help support cellular energy production, circulation within the scalp environment, and normal follicular activity.

850 nm Near-Infrared Light
Near-infrared light is invisible to the eye and penetrates more deeply than visible red light. Used alongside red light, it broadens the depth of photobiomodulation and provides additional support for the tissues surrounding the follicle.

Together, the two wavelengths create a more comprehensive approach than red light alone.

Designed for Consistent Scalp Coverage

Light therapy is not simply about how many LEDs a device contains. Wavelength, irradiance, treatment distance, exposure time, and distribution across the treatment area all influence the delivered light dose.

The RegenOMedix cap uses 136 triple-chip LED modules — 408 individual LED chips in total — positioned throughout the cap to distribute light across the scalp. This dense arrangement is intended to minimize large gaps between treatment points and provide more uniform exposure.

45 mW/cm² Stated Irradiance

The manufacturer specifies an irradiance of approximately 45 mW/cm².

For Proaging Technology, this is an important specification because LED count by itself tells us relatively little about the performance of a light-therapy device. Irradiance helps describe how much light energy actually reaches the treatment area.

Higher irradiance is not automatically better. The wavelength, total treatment time, treatment distance, uniformity and resulting dose all matter. But having a stated irradiance gives us a far more meaningful performance metric than simply advertising hundreds of LEDs.

40 Hz Pulse Mode

The Proaging Perspective

Hair-light devices are becoming increasingly common, and this is an area where more LEDs does not necessarily mean a better device.

What interests us about the RegenOMedix system is the combination of wavelength selection, light density, stated irradiance, treatment coverage and usability.

The pairing of 660 nm red light with 850 nm near-infrared light is particularly compelling. Red light addresses the more superficial scalp environment while near-infrared light extends photobiomodulation deeper into the tissue. Rather than treating these as competing technologies, this system uses them together.

We also appreciate that RegenOMedix provides an actual irradiance specification. A device can advertise hundreds—or even thousands—of LEDs, but without understanding wavelength, energy output, treatment distance and dose, LED count alone does not tell us how meaningful the treatment may be.
